SIMEC ATLANTIS ENERGY LIMITED
(“SAE”, the “Company” and, together with its subsidiaries, the “Group”)
As noted in the recently issued Notice of AGM posted on the SAE website, our serving Chairman, Mr John Neill CBE has, as a result of additional demands from his other business interests, with great reluctance decided not to offer himself for re-election.
The Board has accepted his decision and would like to formally place on record its gratitude and thanks for the years of expert guidance and wise advice that John has given to the Company.
Following meetings of the Nominations Committee, the Company is pleased to announce that Mr Duncan Black (current Non-Executive Director, Chair of the Audit Committee and member of the Technology and Nominations Committees) will succeed Mr Neill as Chairman effective at the conclusion of the AGM on 18 August 2021 and conditional on Mr Black being elected at the AGM. Mr Black has a wealth of experience and a great depth of sector knowledge; and the Board is looking forward to working with him in this new role.
Mr Black re-joined the Board in October 2020 having previously served as the Chief Financial Officer and an Executive Director of the Company from 2012-2015, and subsequently as a Non-Executive Director. He has been based in Asia for over 20 years working in the power and infrastructure sectors as a project developer, CFO, investment banker and fund manager. Mr Black’s previous roles have included Co-Head of Infrastructure Investment at Eastspring Investments (part of Prudential plc), Asia Head of Acquisitions at Deutsche Asset Management’s infrastructure funds management business, and CFO of CLP Holdings’ Australian electricity and gas utility business, now EnergyAustralia. Mr Black is currently engaged in developing wind and solar power projects in Asia. Mr Black has a BEng (Hons) in Civil Engineering and a PhD in Fluid Dynamics, each from Imperial College, London.
Mr John Neill CBE, Chairman of SAE commented:
“It has been a privilege to work with such a talented team for almost 8 years, who have achieved so much and have an exciting future ahead of them. I am grateful to the many stakeholders and business partners who have supported the Company on its journey and remain a passionate advocate for the Company and its mission.”
